If you own a website which relies on web traffic for success then a high search engine rank is vitally important.
“How do I improve my search engine rank?” is the most common
question from my new clients. Often they already have a beautifully
designed (and expensive) website yet they’re languishing fifty or even
a hundred pages down the search engine rankings.
Search Engine Optimisation
Ideally search engine optimisation (SEO) would be built into every site at the point of conception and woven seamlessly into the design. At GET we know that search engine optimisation should be part of the design strategy, not separate from it. The words on each page should have as much time invested in them as the graphic design and programming yet all too often they are tagged on at the end as an afterthought.
In reality my new clients like their beautiful websites and have neither the desire nor the budget to start over from scratch.
So what do we do?...
Well whether you’re starting from scratch or modifying an existing site you need to think ‘keywords’.
All text on a website is called ‘copy’ and all copy should be ‘keyword rich’.
But it’s not all about cramming as many keywords in as possible. The copy has to make sense to the reader and you must understand how many keywords to use.
